Exhaust Valve Rocker Arm
Why This Part Is Important
The exhaust valve rocker arm is a critical component in your engine's valve train system. Its main job is to transfer the camshaftβs motion to the exhaust valve, ensuring the gases exit the cylinder after combustion. This movement is vital for smooth engine performance and efficient fuel burning.
How It Works
When the camshaft rotates, it pushes up on the rocker arm, which then pushes the exhaust valve open at the correct time. As the cam lobe rotates away, the rocker arm lets the exhaust valve close, sealing the combustion chamber. This precise action repeats thousands of times per minute while your engine is running.
Problems When Broken
If the rocker arm breaks or wears out, your engine could suffer from rough idle, loss of power, ticking noises, or even misfire. Ignoring a faulty rocker arm may cause severe engine damage because exhaust gases won't exit properly, possibly damaging other expensive parts.
