Front Disc Brake Hardware Kit for Toyota/Scion
This OE-style hardware set restores precise brake pad movement and quiet, confident stops. It replaces worn clips, springs, and boots that guide the pads in the caliper bracket. Fresh hardware is essential whenever you service front pads to keep braking smooth, straight, and silent.
Why this part is needed β
Over time, abutment clips corrode, springs lose tension, and guide pin boots crack. That causes pad drag, noise, and uneven wear. New hardware keeps the pads centered on the rotor, improves pedal feel, and extends pad and rotor life.
How it works οΈ
Stainless abutment clips create a low-friction rail for the pad ears. Anti-rattle springs preload the pads to reduce vibration. Rubber boots seal the guide pins against water and dust, letting the caliper slide evenly left/right. With a thin film of high-temp brake grease on contact points, the pads move freely and retract cleanly after each stop.
What happens if itβs damaged β οΈ
You may hear squeal or clunk, feel pull under braking, or see tapered/one-sided pad wear. Dragging pads overheat rotors, cause glaze, judder, and longer stopping distance. Torn boots invite rusted pins, leading to seized calipers and warped rotors.
Tech tips
Wire-brush the bracket lands, replace all clips and springs, lube only the pad ears and pin surfaces with silicone/ceramic brake grease, and torque guide pins to spec. Never reuse rusty hardware.
