Rear Drum Brake Wheel Cylinder Cup Seal Kit
Why this part is needed
This small seal set is vital for rear drum brakes. It renews the rubber cups inside the rear wheel cylinder so brake fluid stays sealed under pressure. Fresh cups help keep pedal feel firm and braking balanced from left to right β .
How it works
When you press the brake pedal, hydraulic pressure pushes the wheel cylinder pistons outward. The rubber cups expand and βwipeβ against the cylinder bore, trapping fluid and converting pressure into force that spreads the brake shoes against the drum. Good cups also prevent air and moisture from entering, protecting the cylinder from corrosion ?οΈ.
What happens if itβs worn or damaged
Cracked or swollen cups can leak internally or externally. You may notice a sinking pedal, longer stopping distance, uneven rear braking, or fluid on the backing plate. Continued driving can contaminate brake shoes, reduce braking power, and risk brake failure β οΈ.
