Rear Brake Spring Pin Kit for Toyota ??
This rear brake spring pin kit is a small hardware set with a big job: it keeps the rear brake shoes and return springs correctly seated inside the drum brake assembly. When you service brakes, these pins and retainers are often reused, but after years of heat, rust, and vibration they lose tension and can seize or wear.
Why this kit is needed
Drum brakes rely on springs to pull the shoes back after braking. The pins and clips hold the spring hardware in the right position so the shoes move smoothly and evenly. Fresh hardware helps the brakes release cleanly, reducing drag and uneven wear.
How it works
The pins pass through the backing plate and shoe, then lock with retainers. This keeps the spring load stable, prevents shifting, and maintains proper shoe alignment during braking and release.
What happens if itβs worn or broken β οΈ
Loose or corroded pins can cause brake shoe misalignment, scraping noises, sticking brakes, overheating, pulling to one side, and fast drum/shoe wear. In severe cases, hardware failure can reduce braking performance and create unsafe stopping distances.
