Front Disc Brake Caliper Cylinder Repair Kit
This kit restores the heart of your front disc brake caliper. Inside the caliper, the piston, pressure seals, and dust boots create and hold hydraulic force. Heat, age, mud, and salt harden seals and score pistons, which weakens clamping power. Refreshing these parts brings back firm pedal feel, straight stops, and even pad wear.
How it works βοΈ
When you press the pedal, brake fluid pushes the caliper piston forward. The pressure seal keeps fluid locked in, converting hydraulic energy into clamp force on the rotor. The dust boot shields the piston from grit and water. With smooth piston travel and tight sealing, the caliper applies strong, consistent braking and releases cleanly to prevent drag.
What happens if itβs worn or broken β
Leaking seals cause a soft or sinking pedal, longer stopping distance, and low fluid. A stuck or corroded piston leads to pulling, uneven pad wear, hot rotors, and steering vibration. Torn boots invite rust, which can seize the piston and damage the caliper boreβoften turning a simple service into a costly replacement.
Tech tip
Bleed with fresh DOT 3/4 fluid, clean the bore, and lube slide pins with high-temp silicone grease. Never use petroleum on rubber parts.
