Rear Differential Carrier Seal Kit for Toyota Vans
Why this part is needed
This kit restores the sealing of the third member to the axle housing, stopping gear oil leaks and keeping the ring and pinion correctly lubricated. Use it when the differential is removed for gear or bearing work, after off‑road use, or if you see wetness around the pumpkin flange or smell burned oil.
How it works
Precision paper/metal gaskets and elastomer seals close tiny gaps between machined surfaces. The carrier flange gasket keeps oil inside under heat and load, while lip seals ride on smooth shafts to hold oil in and dirt out. Crush washers refresh the seal at drain/fill plugs. Together they maintain oil level, pressure balance, and clean lubrication for gears and bearings.
What happens if it’s broken
Leaks lower oil level, causing gear whine on cruise, clunk on take‑off, overheating, and metal wear. Long neglect can blue the teeth, pit bearings, trigger ABS sensor faults from contaminated tone rings, and lead to costly rebuilds. You may notice drips on the diff nose or flange, a burning‑oil smell, or vibration after long drives.
