Rear/Front Differential Spider Gear Service Kit
This kit is needed when your differential starts clicking on turns, clunks on take-off, or shows metal glitter in the oil. Inside the carrier, the small spider gears and their support parts let the left and right wheels rotate at different speeds while still sharing engine torque. That “speed difference” is what keeps your drivetrain smooth in corners and prevents tire scrub .
How It Works
When you drive straight, the spider gears barely move and the ring gear drives both axles evenly. During a turn, the spiders spin on their pin and balance torque between side gears, allowing one wheel to rotate faster than the other. Proper clearances and hardened surfaces keep the gears quiet and the oil film intact.
What Happens If It’s Worn or Broken
A damaged spider set can cause banging noises, vibration, uneven power delivery, and rapid bearing/gear wear. In severe cases, gears can seize or shatter, locking the differential and risking axle damage or loss of drive. Replacing the worn internals restores smooth turns, reduces backlash noise, and protects the ring & pinion ⚙️.

Always inspect the cross pin, thrust washers, and carrier surfaces; refill with the correct gear oil and check for metal debris after a short break-in.
