Camshaft position sensor for precise engine timing

Why you need it

This sensor tells the engine computer exactly where the cam is, so spark and fuel arrive at the right moment. With a healthy signal you get quick starts, smooth idle, clean emissions, and good fuel economy. Heat‑resistant housing, tight connector, and proper sealing keep oil and moisture out for long life.

How it works ⚙️

Inside is a Hall‑effect element that reads a target on the camshaft. As the cam rotates, the sensor sends a crisp on/off pulse. The ECU compares this to the crank signal to know cylinder phase, then syncs coil firing and sequential injection. Stable pulses mean stable timing, better throttle response, and fewer misfires.

What happens if it’s bad ❗

Symptoms include long cranking, rough idle, loss of power, poor mileage, and stalling when hot. The check engine light may show cam/crank correlation codes. If ignored, raw fuel can overheat the catalytic converter. Replacing the sensor restores synchronization and reliable starting.
