Why this part is needed

Side impacts happen close to the passengers, so the system must react instantly. A healthy sensor helps the vehicle decide when to deploy and prevents wrong deployment during normal driving.

How it works

The sensor measures rapid body acceleration and deformation on the vehicle side. It communicates through the SRS wiring to the control unit, which cross-checks data and then activates the inflator if conditions are correct.

If the sensor is broken

You may see the airbag warning light, stored fault codes, or a disabled SRS system. In a real crash, the side airbag may deploy late or not at all. In rare cases, an unstable sensor can cause false signals—never ignore SRS faults. ⚠️
