Why this part is needed

It ensures airbags deploy at the correct moment in a severe impact, meeting safety standards and protecting occupants. A faulty sensor can trigger an SRS light, store crash data, or cause the system to disable itself as a precaution.

How it works

Inside is a high-speed MEMS accelerometer with control logic. It samples vehicle deceleration thousands of times per second. When the calibrated g‑force threshold is exceeded, it sends a trigger to the SRS ECU via a dedicated line/CAN. A reinforced housing filters vibration, and a sealed connector resists moisture and corrosion.

What happens if it’s broken

Expect an illuminated SRS lamp, codes like B‑series impact sensor faults, possible non‑deployment or late deployment, and system shutdown in fail‑safe. Do not ignore it.

Service tips ?

Disconnect the battery and wait 3–5 minutes, mount to a clean, rust‑free bracket, torque to spec, and clear/calibrate with a capable scan tool. Never reuse after a crash; replace affected zone sensors and inspect wiring.
