Half Shaft Oil Seal (Drive Shaft Seal) ️

This small seal sits where the drive shaft enters the transmission or differential. Its job is simple but critical: keep gear oil inside and keep water, dust, and road grit outside. Without a tight seal, lubrication drops fast and expensive driveline parts wear out early.

Why this seal is needed ✅

The half shaft spins at high speed while the housing stays still. The seal forms a flexible lip around the rotating shaft, holding oil pressure back and maintaining a clean, lubricated environment for bearings and gears.

How it works ⚙️

A rubber sealing lip rides on the shaft surface, supported by a spring ring to keep constant tension. The outer shell locks into the case, while the lip follows shaft movement and minor vibration without leaking.

If the seal is damaged

You may notice oil spots under the car, a wet transmission case, burning-oil smell on hot parts, or humming/whine from low fluid level. Ignoring it can lead to overheating, bearing failure, and transmission/diff damage.
