Axle/Transmission Oil Seal for Honda Driveline ️

This seal sits at the gearbox output where the driveshaft enters the case. It keeps ATF/CVT fluid inside and dirt or water out, protecting bearings and gears. With the correct seal in place, fluid pressure stays stable, shifts feel smooth, and the differential runs cool and quiet.

How it works

A molded rubber lip, preloaded by a garter spring, hugs the rotating shaft and forms a thin oil film. The outer shell press-fits into the case for a tight 57 mm hold, the inner lip runs on the 35 mm shaft, and the 8 mm profile controls stability. The hydrodynamic edge keeps fluid in even at high RPM.

What happens if it fails ⚠️

Signs include a wet area at the axle, red/brown drips, burnt smell, CVT judder, and whining on turns. Ignoring it can lead to rapid fluid loss, overheating, clutch/belt damage, bearing wear, and possible gearbox seizure. Replace at first leak. Clean the bore, lightly oil the lip, drive it square and flush, and inspect the shaft for grooves.
