This smart controller manages seat occupancy for the airbag system. It decides when to enable, suppress, or adjust passenger airbag deployment. It keeps warnings and seatbelt logic correct, helps protect adults, and prevents airbags from firing when a child seat or empty seat is detected. How it works

The module reads the seat weight sensor and buckle switch, filters noise, and sends data over CAN to the main airbag ECU. It classifies Adult/Child/Empty in real time, runs self‑tests at key‑on, and stores fault or crash data. After fitting, a zero‑point calibration sets accurate weight thresholds for reliable operation.

What happens if it’s broken

Symptoms include SRS lamp on, “airbag OFF” stuck, wrong chimes, and DTCs for occupant sensor or communication. Airbags may deploy with the wrong force, or not deploy when needed, reducing protection. The vehicle can fail inspection, and child seat safety logic may not work. Replace and calibrate without delay.
