Why you need it

How it works ⚙️

Inside the probe is an NTC thermistor. As oil heats, resistance drops. The ECU/gauge reads the voltage change and converts it to a stable temperature value. The brass body sits in the sump or gallery, sensing flow directly. A sealed connector delivers a clean signal with minimal noise.

When it fails ❗

Common signs: dead or jumpy gauge, cold reading that never rises, random warnings, poor fuel economy, or limp mode. Without data, the system may overheat silently, thinning oil and scuffing bearings, cams, and turbos. In extreme cases, varnish and sludge form fast.

Fitment & install tips

Match thread pitch and connector. Install on a cool engine, use a light smear of oil-safe sealant (never on the tip),torque to spec, and route the harness away from heat. After install, verify reading versus scan tool.
