Why you need it

This OEM unit feeds the ECU/TCM with precise road speed data. The signal controls automatic shift timing, idle stability, cruise control, and the speedometer. With a healthy sensor, your Toyota platform accelerates smoothly, shifts at the right time, and keeps fuel use low ⛽.

How it works

Mounted on the transaxle, a magnetic Hall‑effect core reads teeth on the output shaft. It creates clean square‑wave pulses. The control module converts those pulses to km/h or mph, then coordinates gear changes, torque converter lockup, and traction logic . Sealed housing and O‑ring keep oil out, connector pins keep noise low.

What happens if it’s broken

Expect harsh or late shifts, limp mode, dead speedometer, inoperative cruise, ABS/VSC lights, and higher fuel use ⚠️. The engine may flare on upshifts, and the transmission can overheat from wrong lockup timing. A scan will show VSS/TCM speed code.
