Rear Suspension Joint Collar – Tight Fit, Quiet Ride ?️

This small collar sits at the rear joint area and acts like a precision sleeve/spacer. Its job is to keep the joint hardware perfectly centered, hold correct clearance, and stop the bolt and bushing from crushing or shifting under load. Even though it looks simple, it’s critical for stable rear alignment and smooth suspension movement.

Why this part is needed

Rear joints take constant stress from bumps, braking, and cornering. The collar supports the joint stack-up so the suspension can pivot as designed without side play. It also helps protect rubber bushings by distributing clamp force evenly.

How it works

When the mounting bolt is tightened, the collar sets the correct spacing and provides a hard surface for the joint to clamp against. This prevents metal-on-rubber grinding, keeps torque consistent, and reduces vibration transfer to the body.

What happens if it’s worn or broken ⚠️

A damaged collar can cause rear-end clunks, wandering handling, uneven tire wear, and accelerated bushing failure. In severe cases the joint can shift, making alignment impossible and stressing nearby arms and fasteners.
