Why this part is needed

The sector shaft moves every time you turn the wheel. That constant motion can wear the sealing lip over time. A fresh seal restores proper sealing pressure, prevents leaks, and protects expensive internal bearings and bushings.

How it works

The flexible lip rides on the shaft surface and forms a tight barrier. A reinforced outer case keeps the seal seated in the housing, while the inner lip holds fluid under pressure during steering loads and temperature changes.

What happens if it’s broken

A damaged seal may cause fluid seepage or heavy leakage. Low fluid can lead to hard steering, whining noise, wandering feel, and accelerated gearbox wear. If contamination gets inside, the shaft can score and the steering box may require rebuild or replacement ❗
