Steering Rack End Assembly for Toyota SUVs
This OE-spec inner tie rod (rack end) restores precise steering feel and safe tracking. It connects the steering gear to the outer tie rod, sending your steering input to the wheels with low friction and tight tolerance. Built from heat-treated steel with a precision ball-and-socket and anti-corrosion coating, itβs engineered for long life on rough roads.
Why you need it
Road shock, dirt, and age create play in the joint. Common signs: loose steering, pull after bumps, uneven tire wear, clunking on turns, and vibration at speed. Replacing it brings back straight-line stability, quick response, and proper alignment control.
How it works β
A hardened inner ball joint pivots as suspension moves, while the threaded shaft sets toe during alignment. The protective boot keeps grease in and grit out, so the steering rack can push and pull the knuckle smoothly with consistent effort.
If it fails β οΈ
Excess play grows quickly, destroying tires and stressing the steering rack. In extreme cases, joint separation can lead to sudden loss of steering control. Always align the vehicle after installation.
Install notes
Torque to spec, renew boot and lock washer if worn, and inspect the outer tie rod. Replacing in pairs is recommended for even steering feel.
