Power Steering Vane Pump Oil Reservoir οΈ
This OEMβgrade hydraulic tank stores and conditions steering fluid so the vane pump always gets a steady, bubbleβfree supply. Inside are baffles and a fine strainer that deβaerate the oil and trap debris. The result is quiet assist, longer pump life, and smoother wheel feel .
Why you need it
Age, heat, and vibration can crack the plastic body, loosen nipples, or clog the internal filter. Replacing a tired tank restores correct flow and prevents pump cavitation, whining, and premature wear.
How it works
Return fluid enters the reservoir, slows through baffles, sheds air, then passes the mesh strainer. The outlet feeds the vane pump by gravity/low suction. The vented cap stabilizes pressure, and molded ports keep hoses leakβfree.
If itβs broken β οΈ
Expect heavy steering, foamy fluid, pump growl, wandering assist, overheating oil, and leaks. Prolonged use can scar pump vanes and contaminate the rack with metal.
Installation tips β
Flush lines, use the manufacturerβspecified ATF/PSF, renew clamps and hoses if swollen, fill to the mark, and bleed by turning lockβtoβlock with engine idling. Recheck for bubbles and top up warm.
