Rear Brake Wheel Cylinder Assembly ?️

This rear drum-brake hydraulic unit is required to turn brake fluid pressure into strong, even push on the brake shoes. Each time you press the pedal, fluid enters the cylinder, the internal pistons slide outward, and the shoes press the drum to slow the car smoothly. Good sealing and clean bore surfaces keep pressure stable and prevent spongy pedal feel.

How it works ⚙️

The cylinder receives pressure from the brake line, moves two pistons, and distributes force equally to both shoes. When you release the pedal, return springs pull the shoes back and the pistons retract, ready for the next stop.

If it fails ?

A worn seal or corroded bore can cause fluid leaks, weak rear braking, longer stopping distance, brake pull to one side, and brake warning light. Leaks may contaminate brake linings, leading to noise, overheating, and uneven wear. Driving with a faulty unit is unsafe and can damage the drum and shoes.
