How it works ⚙️

A molded elastomer lip with a tension spring rides on the axle journal. When pressed into the hub, it forms a tight barrier: grease stays where it should, water and grit are blocked. The result is smooth bearing operation and longer service life.

Why you need it

Healthy seals prevent grease loss, bearing wear, brake contamination, and ABS sensor fouling. They help maintain proper wheel alignment feel and braking performance.

If the seal fails

Expect grease on the drum/disc, burnt bearing smell, humming or growling, heat at the hub, uneven tire wear, and possible brake fade. Ignoring it can seize the bearing and damage the axle stub—costly repairs.

Tech tip

Replace in pairs, clean the bore and journal, lightly grease the lip, seat squarely, and torque the axle hardware to spec.
