Why you need it

How it works

Inside is an NTC thermistor. As oil gets hotter, its electrical resistance drops. The ECU reads this signal and adjusts fuel mixture, spark timing, fan speed, and in many models, transmission mapping. The result is consistent performance in city traffic, track use, or towing.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

Expect Check Engine Light, rich/lean running, rough idle, poor MPG, late/harsh shifts, weak performance, or limp mode. Cooling fans may cycle wrong, risking oil overheating, varnish, and accelerated wear. Replace promptly to avoid costly repairs.
