Why this part is needed ?️

Automatic gearboxes make thousands of shifts. Friction material and tiny metal dust circulate in the fluid. This strainer traps those particles before they reach the hydraulic circuits, keeping pressure stable and shift timing precise.

How it works ?

Located at the pump pickup near the valve body, the screen filters ATF as the pump draws fluid. A molded neck and seal prevent air leaks, while the mesh allows high flow with low restriction. Clean fluid feeds solenoids and regulators for consistent operation.

What happens if it is damaged ❗

Clogging or torn mesh leads to delayed engagement, harsh or flared shifts, shudder, overheating, and reduced power. Debris can jam valves, trigger limp mode, and accelerate clutch wear. In severe cases, the transmission may slip or fail. Replace the strainer whenever the pan is off and during ATF service ?️.
