Speedometer Drive Gear for Nissan ⚙️

This precision speedo gear sits on the transmission output and drives the vehicle speed reading. How it works

The output shaft turns this gear, which meshes with a pinion or sensor rotor. Rotation becomes pulses (or cable spin) that the instrument cluster converts into mph/kph and distance. Correct tooth count and profile ensure accurate readings with factory axle ratio and tire size.

What happens if it’s bad ⚠️

Symptoms include bouncing or dead speedometer, wrong mileage, cruise dropping out, harsh or late automatic shifts, ABS/ECU speed faults, and poor fuel economy. Running it broken can strip the mating pinion and spread plastic debris through the oil, increasing wear.

Tech notes

Replace O-ring, check end play, match the tooth/color code, lightly oil with ATF/gear oil, and torque the retainer. Always clear stored speed-related codes after install.
