CVT Transmission Revolution Speed Sensor โ๏ธ
This precision sensor reads shaft speed inside the CVT and sends realโtime data to the transmission control module. The TCM uses this signal to manage ratio changes, clutch pressure, and line pressure. With a healthy signal, shifts are smooth, fuel economy stays high, and drivability is consistent.
Why you need it
Without accurate speed feedback, the gearbox cannot calculate the correct ratio. Replacing a worn sensor restores normal shift timing, protects the CVT belt/pulleys, and prevents harsh engagement or flare.
How it works
A magnetic pickup detects teeth or slots on a rotating target. It generates a pulse train; frequency equals shaft speed. The TCM compares input and output speeds to control step motor/solenoids and lockup.
What happens if it fails โ ๏ธ
Common effects: delayed or harsh shifts, stuck in limp mode, speedometer drop, unstable idle when selecting gears, higher fuel use, and OBD-II faults (e.g., speed sensor range/performance). Prolonged driving can overheat fluid and wear pulleys.
Fitment notes โ
Direct plug, OE-style connector and O-ring. Inspect harness, clean mounting bore, torque evenly, and perform TCM relearn after install. Use fresh CVT fluid if contaminated.
