Transmission Extension Housing Gasket Seal ?

This sealing gasket is fitted between the transmission extension area and its mating surface. Its main job is simple but critical: keep automatic transmission fluid where it belongs and stop dust, water, and road grime from entering the drivetrain.

The extension section of the gearbox must stay perfectly sealed to maintain correct fluid level and stable hydraulic pressure. Even a tiny gap can create seepage that slowly turns into a real leak.

How it works ⚙️

When bolted up, the gasket compresses evenly and fills microscopic surface imperfections. This creates a tight barrier that holds fluid under operating heat and vibration, while also helping prevent case-to-case fretting and corrosion.

What happens if it’s worn or broken ?

A damaged gasket can cause ATF leaks, burning fluid smell, slipping or delayed engagement, noisy operation, and accelerated wear inside the transmission. In severe cases, low fluid may lead to overheating and costly internal damage.
