This part is a key piece of the vehicle security system. It sits close to the ignition area and is made to read the coded chip inside your key. Without a clean key-to-car communication, the engine control unit will not allow starting, even if the starter motor turns.

Why this part is needed

Modern Nissan immobilizers rely on a short-range radio signal to confirm the correct key is present. This antenna captures the key’s transponder ID and sends it to the immobilizer/ECU for approval. It prevents theft and stops random “no start” problems caused by weak signal pickup.

How it works

When you turn the key or press start, the antenna energizes the transponder chip, receives the return code, then passes that data to the control unit. If the code matches, fuel injection and ignition are enabled ✅.

What happens if it’s broken

A failed unit may cause intermittent cranking with no start, security light staying on, key not recognized, or sudden stall right after start. In many cases, the car will be fully immobilized until the signal path is restored.
