How This Part Works

Refrigerant enters the evaporator core as a low-pressure liquid and expands through the system, turning into a cold gas. As the blower pushes warm cabin air across the aluminum fins, heat is absorbed and moisture condenses on the surface, then drains out through the case drain tube. This is why good airflow and a clean core matter for strong cooling.

Signs It’s Failing

When the evaporator leaks or clogs, cooling drops fast and the A/C may cycle oddly. You may notice musty smell, foggy windows, weak vent temperature, or oily residue from refrigerant dye. If it ruptures, refrigerant escapes and the compressor can run dry, risking bigger A/C damage.
