How it works

The gauge connects to the sender in the engine. As coolant warms, sender resistance changes. The gauge’s internal coil/bimetal element converts that change into needle movement. A stabilized 12V feed ensures steady, accurate readings, even with alternator load changes.

Common signs: needle stuck at C or H, erratic swing, or no movement. You lose early warning of heat spikes, risking warped head, boiled coolant, or seized engine. A shorted unit can pop the meter fuse; a poor ground causes flicker.
