Engine Camshaft Signal Sensor — precise timing control

This small but critical sensor feeds the ECU with the exact position of the camshaft. With that live data, the computer fires ignition coils, meters fuel, and manages variable valve timing. A healthy camshaft sensor keeps cold starts clean, throttle response crisp, and fuel economy steady. Built with heat‑resistant plastics, tight O‑ring sealing, and OE‑style connectors, it’s made to survive harsh under‑hood temperatures and oil mist.

Why you need it ⚙️

Without accurate cam data, the engine cannot sync injectors and spark to the valve events. This sensor is the reference for sequential injection and VVT phasing, so smooth idle and power depend on it.

How it works

A Hall‑effect element reads a toothed trigger on the cam. As teeth pass, it outputs a clean square wave. The ECU compares this to the crank sensor to calculate cylinder phase in real time.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

  • Hard start or extended cranking
  • Rough idle, hesitation, low power
  • VVT disabled, increased fuel use
  • Check Engine light (P0340/P0341)
  • Possible limp mode; catalyst wear over time

Install notes ✅

Located at the cylinder head. Disconnect battery, unclip connector, swap sensor, lightly oil the O‑ring, seat flush, and torque to spec. Clear codes and perform an idle relearn if needed. Inspect harness for heat or oil damage.
