Crank Angle Sensor for Accurate Engine Timing ⚙️

This sensor is a key input for the ECU to know exactly where the crankshaft is and how fast it’s spinning. It is needed to control ignition timing, injection pulse, and smooth starting. Without a clean crank signal, modern engines simply can’t “sync” their firing order reliably.

How It Works ?

The unit reads a toothed wheel on the crankshaft and converts that movement into an electrical signal. The ECU counts these pulses to calculate RPM and crank position, then adjusts spark and fuel delivery in real time for power, economy, and low emissions.

Signs of a Failing Sensor ?

What happens if it’s broken

• Hard starting or no-start condition
• Random stalling, especially when hot
• Misfires, hesitation, weak acceleration
• Engine light on, unstable RPM readings

Replacing a weak sensor early helps prevent repeated breakdowns and protects the catalytic system from unburned fuel caused by misfire.
