Engine Coolant Temp Sensor – OE ref 22630-10G00

Small part, big job. This ECT sensor feeds real-time coolant temperature to the ECU ️. With correct data, the computer sets fuel mixture, ignition timing, idle speed, and turns the radiator fan on/off. Result: clean starts, steady idle, good MPG, and safe engine temperatures .

Why it’s needed

Cold engine needs extra fuel; warm engine needs leaner mix. The sensor tells the ECU exactly where the engine is on that scale, prevents detonation, protects the head gasket, and stabilizes emissions and A/C load.

How it works

Inside is an NTC thermistor in a brass body. As coolant heats up, resistance drops. The ECU reads voltage change, then adjusts fuel maps and commands the fan relay. A sealing washer/O-ring keeps the system leak-free .

If it’s faulty

Hard cold starts, rough idle, poor fuel economy, black smoke or lean stumble, fan stuck on/off, overheating, and Check Engine (P0115–P0119). Corroded pins or a cracked tip can misread temps. Replace, torque to spec, top up coolant, bleed air, and clear codes .
