Upper Radiator Coolant Hose

This hose is a key link between the engine outlet and the radiator inlet, carrying hot coolant so the radiator can remove heat. You need it to keep engine temperature stable in traffic, towing, or hot weather. The hose is built to flex with engine movement while holding pressure from the cooling system.

How It Works

As the water pump circulates coolant, this upper line delivers the hottest coolant to the radiator. Its reinforced rubber walls resist swelling, and the molded shape helps prevent kinks that can choke flow. With good clamps, it seals tight to stop air leaks that can cause overheating.

What Happens If It Fails

❗ Cracks, soft spots, or bulges can lead to coolant loss, steam, and sudden overheating. A split hose may dump coolant fast, risking warped cylinder head, blown head gasket, heater failure, and possible engine seizure. Replace at the first sign of leaks, crusty residue, or a spongy feel.
