Radiator Pressure Cap Assembly ️

This cooling system cap is a small but critical part that seals the radiator neck and keeps the system at the correct pressure. Pressure control raises the coolant boiling point, helping the engine stay stable in traffic, hot weather, and long drives. It’s needed to prevent coolant loss, reduce air entry, and maintain proper circulation through the radiator and hoses.

How It Works ⚙️

Inside the cap are spring-loaded valves and rubber seals. When coolant heats up, pressure builds and the valve holds it to the rated limit. If pressure exceeds spec, it releases excess into the overflow tank. As the engine cools, a vacuum valve allows coolant to return, keeping the system full and balanced.

Signs of a Failed Cap ❗

A weak seal or tired spring can cause overheating, coolant smell, bubbling in the reservoir, or wetness around the radiator neck. If the cap can’t hold pressure, coolant may boil early and push out, leading to temperature spikes. If it won’t release correctly, hoses can swell, clamps may leak, and the radiator can be stressed.
