How it works ⚙️

This unit is a plate-type coolant-to-oil exchanger. Engine oil passes through plates while engine coolant absorbs excess heat. Many setups include a bypass/thermostat so oil reaches temp quickly, then sheds heat under load. The assembly mounts near the filter with sealed passages and O-rings.

If it fails

Expect high oil temps, pressure drop, ticking lifters, burnt smell, and darkened oil. Leaks can leave spots or trigger low oil warnings. Internal cracks may mix coolant and oil (“milkshake”),risking bearings and turbo. Overheating can force limp mode and shorten engine life.
