Engine Coolant Outlet Packing Seal for Nissan

How it works ⚙️

The packing is a molded, coolant‑resistant gasket that compresses evenly between machined faces of the housing and cylinder head. When torqued to spec, it creates a uniform barrier against pressure and vibration, stopping micro‑seepage and maintaining system integrity.

What happens if it’s damaged

Expect wet staining around the outlet, sweet coolant smell, rising temperatures, weak cabin heat, and air pockets. Prolonged leaks can pit aluminum, stress the water pump, trigger warning lights, and even warp the head or blow a head gasket.

Install tips ️

Clean both surfaces, check for nicks, fit the new seal dry unless the service manual specifies a thin film of sealant, tighten bolts in a criss‑cross pattern to spec, refill with the correct coolant mix, and bleed the system.
