Why your engine needs it ❄️

The engine lasts longest and runs cleanest around 90°C. This temperature regulator meters coolant between block and radiator so the ECU, oil, and emissions systems work as designed in any season.

How it works ⚙️

Inside is a wax pellet that expands as coolant heats, pushing a plunger to open the valve near 88–92°C. Cold: it stays shut, routing coolant through the bypass for fast warm‑up. Hot: it opens progressively to the radiator. A molded seal prevents leaks; install with the bleed/jiggle pin upward.

What happens if it breaks ⚠️

Stuck closed: overheating, boiling coolant, pinging, warped head or blown gasket. Stuck open: slow warm‑up, weak cabin heat, rich mixture, P0128, carbon build‑up, higher fuel use. Erratic action causes temp swings and fan overrun.

Pro install tips

Fit a new gasket, clean mating surfaces, use Nissan‑spec coolant, bleed air, and torque evenly on a cool engine.
