Accelerator Control Lever with Drum

This accelerator lever assembly is a key link between your gas pedal and the engine throttle system. It is needed to deliver smooth, accurate pedal response so the engine can increase or reduce power exactly when you ask for it.

How it works ⚙️

The lever pivots on its mount and uses the drum to guide and hold the throttle cable in the correct path. When you press the pedal, the cable pulls the drum/lever, rotating the throttle mechanism to open airflow and raise RPM. The drum helps keep tension steady, reducing cable jump, sticking, and uneven acceleration.

Signs of failure and what happens if it breaks

If the lever or drum is worn, bent, or cracked, you may notice a heavy or sticky pedal, delayed throttle response, high or unstable idle, or sudden surging. A broken unit can cause poor throttle control, limited acceleration, or in worst cases the pedal may not return properly—making driving unsafe and risking extra strain on the throttle cable and linkage.
