Crankcase Ventilation Control Valve Assembly ️

This small but critical engine valve keeps the crankcase breathing correctly. It is needed to control blow-by gases (pressure and oily vapors) that build up inside the engine during normal combustion. By routing these gases back into the intake in a metered way, the engine stays cleaner, seals last longer, and emissions remain under control.

How It Works

Inside the valve is a spring-loaded check mechanism that opens and closes based on vacuum and crankcase pressure. At idle and light load it limits flow to prevent a vacuum leak. Under higher load it allows more ventilation to relieve pressure, helping reduce oil contamination and sludge formation.

When It’s Failing ⚠️

If it sticks open, the engine can run lean, idle rough, and may whistle or surge. If it sticks closed, crankcase pressure rises, pushing oil past gaskets and seals, causing oil leaks, oil consumption, and smoky exhaust. Long-term neglect can foul spark plugs and stress seals, leading to costly repairs.
