Why you need it

VTEC relies on clean, stable oil pressure. Sludge or a tired gasket upsets hydraulic control, causing hesitation and leaks. This assembly keeps the passages clean and sealed, improving drivability and fuel economy. ⚙️

How it works

A stainless micro‑mesh screen filters pressurized oil feeding the spool valve, stabilizing flow to the rocker pistons/solenoid. The formed plate and rubber gasket prevent cross‑leaks. It mounts on the cylinder head near the VTEC solenoid; install with fresh oil and a new O‑ring for best results.

What happens if it’s bad

Clogged screen or flattened seal = late/no VTEC, surge at 3–5k rpm, reduced power, poor MPG, ticking, and oil seep around the housing. The ECM may flag P1259 and turn on the Check Engine light. Prolonged neglect can score the spool valve and wear cam followers. ❗

Tech tips
