Engine Crank Pulley (Harmonic Balancer) ⚙️

This crank-mounted pulley is a key drive part on many Nissan engines. It is needed to transfer engine rotation to the accessory belts, so the alternator, power steering pump, A/C compressor, and other driven units can work correctly. At the same time, its damper design helps calm harmful crankshaft vibrations for smoother running.

How It Works ?

The pulley bolts to the crankshaft nose and spins at engine speed. The belt rides on its grooves and carries torque to accessories. On damped types, a bonded rubber layer absorbs torsional shock, reducing noise and protecting bearings and seals from repeated vibration stress.

If It’s Worn or Broken ?

A damaged pulley can wobble, throw belts, or slip under load. You may notice squealing, belt dust, charging issues, heavy steering, weak A/C, or vibration at idle. If the damper separates, it can damage the crank seal, ruin belts, and in severe cases cause timing-related problems and engine overheating due to loss of accessory drive.
