Rear Main Oil Seal for Nissan Engines οΈ
This precision rear crank seal keeps engine oil inside the block where it belongs, right behind the flywheel. It was engineered to handle heat, vibration, and crankshaft speed, so your motor stays clean and well-lubed. Ideal when fixing an oil leak, replacing a clutch, or during a rebuild.
Why you need it
It stops oil from escaping at the back of the crankshaft. That protects the clutch, starter, and flywheel from oil contamination, maintains oil level and pressure, and prevents messy drips from the bellhousing area.
How it works
The outer shell press-fits into the housing; a spring-loaded lip hugs the crank hub. A thin oil film forms a hydrodynamic seal, while tiny ribs return oil to the sump. Quality elastomer resists heat and additives for long life.
If it fails
Expect oil drops under the gearbox, burnt-oil smell, slipping clutch, and low oil level. Prolonged leaks can wear the crank surface and starve bearings. Replace promptly; check PCV/breather pressure to avoid repeat leaks. Install squarely, lubricate the lip, and use the correct driver tool.
