Connecting Rod Bearing for Nissan Engines
This precision bearing supports the con-rod on the crankshaft, keeping oil film, clearance, and alignment exactly where the engine needs them. It reduces friction, stabilizes oil pressure, and protects journals under high load and RPM. Ideal for overhaul or preventive refresh of the bottom end.
How it works ️
Two half-shells clamp in the rod and cap. With correct clearance, engine oil forms a hydrodynamic wedge that floats the rod on the crank pin. Tri-metal/aluminum overlays absorb debris, while chamfers and oil grooves feed lubrication and manage heat. Proper torque and sizing lock the shells in place.
Why replacement matters ✅
Wear grows clearance, dropping oil pressure and causing knock, glitter in oil, and hot spots. If a shell spins or breaks, the rod can seize, damage the journal, or exit the block—catastrophic failure. Always check crank roundness, polish if needed, choose the right bearing grade, use assembly lube, and verify with plastigauge.
Failure signs and risks ⚠️
Cold start rattle, low pressure light at idle, metallic tick under load, rising temps, and metal flakes. Continued driving risks scored crank, bent rod, and blown engine.
