How it works

The small end pivots on the wrist pin inside the piston; the big end clamps around the crank journal with high‑tensile bolts. What if it fails ❗

Wear or bend leads to rod knock, low oil pressure, metal flakes in oil, misfire, and piston or cylinder damage. Continued use risks spun bearings or even a hole in the block. If symptoms appear, stop driving and measure clearances; replace bolts and bearings and verify straightness.
