Crankcase Ventilation Blow-By Hose (Side A) ?️

This hose is a key link in the engine crankcase ventilation system. It is needed to route “blow-by” gases (pressure and oil vapour that escape past piston rings) from the engine area to the intake/vent path, keeping crankcase pressure stable and reducing oil mist leaks. A healthy hose helps the engine breathe correctly, supports smooth idle, and keeps seals from being pushed by excess pressure.

How It Works ⚙️

During operation, the crankcase creates pulses of pressure. This flexible rubber line carries those gases through a controlled path so they can be re-burned in the combustion process. The material is designed to handle heat, fuel vapours, and light oil exposure while staying airtight.

What Happens If It’s Damaged ?

A cracked, collapsed, or loose hose can cause vacuum leaks and poor ventilation. Common results include rough idle, whistling sounds, oily residue around the engine, higher oil consumption, and even blown seals or gasket seepage from pressure build-up. In severe cases, sludge can increase and engine efficiency drops.
