Engine Coolant Thermostat Assembly

This precision thermostat keeps your Nissan engine in the ideal heat zone. Without stable temperature control, power drops, emissions rise, and parts wear faster. A healthy unit ensures quick warm‑up, steady operating temp, strong cabin heat, and long engine life.

Why this part is needed ❄️

The cooling system must reach and hold a set temperature. This valve regulates coolant flow so the engine runs neither too hot nor too cold. It protects the head gasket, oil, and sensors, and keeps fuel economy in check.

How it works

Inside is a wax pellet and spring. As coolant warms, the wax expands and pushes the valve open, routing hot coolant to the radiator. When coolant is cool, the valve closes, sending flow through the bypass for fast warm‑up. It cycles smoothly every drive.

What happens if it fails ⚠️

Stuck closed: overheating, boiling coolant, hard upper hose, warped head, warning light. Stuck open: cold running, high fuel use, weak heater, rich mixture, carbon buildup. Erratic action causes temp swings and poor drivability.

Tech tips for replacement

Install with a fresh seal, correct orientation, and clean housing. Refill with the right coolant mix and bleed air. Inspect radiator cap and hoses. Clear fault codes and verify opening temperature with a scan or IR test.
