Rear Left Drive Shaft Oil Seal 🛠️
This seal sits where the rear left drive shaft enters the differential/transfer housing. Its job is simple but critical: keep gear oil inside while allowing the shaft to spin smoothly at road speed. Without a tight seal, the drivetrain cannot hold correct lubrication, and heat builds fast.
Why this part is needed
Rear driveline units depend on a steady oil level to protect bearings, gears, and the shaft surface. This oil seal blocks leaks caused by shaft rotation, suspension movement, and pressure changes inside the casing.
How it works
A flexible sealing lip rides on the polished shaft area, while the outer shell presses firmly into the housing. The lip edge maintains a light, constant contact to wipe oil inward and keep dirt and water out.
What happens if it’s worn or broken ⚠️
You may notice oil drops near the rear axle, a wet differential case, burning smell, or humming/whine as oil level drops. Ignoring it can lead to bearing failure, gear damage, and costly drivetrain rebuild.
