Expansion Valve Service Kit for Mercedes HVAC System ❄️

This service kit is used in the vehicle air conditioning circuit to keep cabin cooling stable in hot weather and prevent evaporator icing. It’s needed when the A/C starts blowing weak, fluctuates between cold and warm, or after compressor or condenser work where contamination may reach the metering point.

How the part works 🔧

The expansion valve controls how much refrigerant enters the evaporator. It creates a pressure drop, turning liquid refrigerant into a cold mist. A sensing element reacts to evaporator temperature and adjusts flow, so the system maintains correct superheat and efficient heat exchange.

What happens if it’s faulty ⚠️

If the valve sticks closed, the evaporator starves and you get little to no cooling, with low suction pressure. If it sticks open, the evaporator can flood, causing poor cooling, noisy operation, and possible compressor damage. Leaks at seals may also reduce refrigerant and oil, leading to expensive A/C failure.
