Rear Left Wheel Speed Sensor βοΈ
This rear left speed sensor is an important safety and driving-control part. It reads the rotation speed of the wheel and sends a clean signal to the ABS control unit. The system uses this information to manage anti-lock braking, traction control, stability control, and correct speed-related calculations.
Why This Part Is Needed ?
When braking hard or driving on wet, sandy, or uneven roads, the ABS system must know if one wheel is slowing faster than the others. This sensor helps prevent wheel lock, keeps steering control, and supports safer stopping. A correct signal also helps avoid false warning lights and unstable brake response.
How It Works ?
The sensor is mounted near the rear hub area and reads a magnetic or toothed signal ring as the wheel turns. Each rotation creates an electrical pulse. The faster the wheel turns, the faster the pulse signal becomes. The ABS module compares this signal with the other wheels and adjusts brake pressure when needed.
What Happens If It Fails β οΈ
A broken or dirty sensor can cause the ABS warning lamp to stay on. You may notice disabled ABS, traction control faults, poor braking support on slippery roads, or diagnostic trouble codes. In some cases, the speed signal may drop out because of damaged wiring, corrosion, road dirt, or impact near the hub.
