Steering Angle Sensor for Toyota Stability and Safety

Why this part is needed

This OEM-grade steering angle sensor keeps core driver aids working: Electric Power Steering (EPS),ABS, Traction Control, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC),lane assist, and parking features. It tells the car exactly how far and how fast you turn the wheel, so the ECUs can balance grip, assist, and braking for smooth, safe driving ️.

How it works

Mounted on the steering column behind the wheel, the unit uses precision encoders (Hall/optical) to read wheel position and rotation rate. It sends a high‑resolution signal over the CAN bus to the skid control and EPS modules. A “zero point” is stored when the wheels are straight. After installation or alignment, a quick calibration sets this neutral point for accurate control .

What happens if it fails

Warning lamps may appear (VSC/TRC/ABS/EPS) ⚠️. You can feel heavy or uneven steering assist, poor straight‑line stability, or early traction cut on wet roads. Lane and parking aids may be disabled, and the car can pull after alignment. Fault codes for steering angle mismatch often show up. Driving remains possible, but safety systems won’t perform as designed.

Tech tip

Install with wheels pointed straight, avoid turning the column while disconnected, and perform zero‑point calibration via scan tool or lock‑to‑lock method. Direct-fit and plug‑in for reliable OE behavior.
